Anyone out there has any idea about this insurance company? My parents want to visit me and these guys have said told my parents their insurance is cheaper than the ones in the US(which is true) and, this is not a reimbursing process. Hospitals, doctors' office, and pharmacies accept these cards that goes to the company database directly...(???) This part I find hard to believe; my understanding was that all Indian insurances work in the form of reimbursements.
Also, apparently, Indian companies will provide insurance before one boards the flights, something which is reportedly "needed" nowadays? Do US companies offer the same as well? I will appreciate any information I can get, Koustuv |

It is only fixed coverage plan for ages above 55. It is not comprehensive.
I am not sure how they can claim direct settlement. Their claims procedure says that you have to first call New Delhi, India before going to doctor!! How convenient? And which doctor is going to bill someone in New Delhi? |

As you guys must have noticed.. I am a man on a mission ... any post in this forum that refers to ICICI Lombard will see a reply from me... I am not spamming... just wanna make sure that none of the others are duped by these guys the way we were duped... so read on
My parents ( gullible enuf ) were sold this insurance by an agent in India. Turns out they are a bunch of thugs under the ICICI name.... I don't have much time right now as I am researching for other insurance options for my in laws who come in next week... just take my word.... it is a waste of money... especially ICICI Lombard... u might as well not get insurance and rather spend that money somewhere else... by the way after spending more than 900$ on my parents ( who left for India more than 10 months back ) and each claim being rejected due to funny reasons... i am now stuck on principles and trying to scavenge 100 bucks just for the heck of it to see how long these nuts will stretch this.... Regards, Navin |

Both my parents were above 57 years of age when they visited US and were covered by New India Insurance or Assurance. They were covered upto $500K and mom had an heart attack (costed $90K) and all except 1K was covered. You might want to do some research on them.

Hi Hindihelp,
When exactly this incident of heart attack happened. Few years back my father had taken new india insurance when they were affiliated with mercury and after few administrative hassels, mercury paid all but deductible. But I had heard some issues between new india insurance and mercury. When this happend, were they still affiliated with mercury or someone else. thanks, Nirav |

Say NO to ICICI Lombard ! Stay away from these frauds. I have been a victim of their scam. My parents were in the USA visiting me and my family last year. My dad had an unfortunate fall on the stairs in my house and he ended up in the hospital. Thanks to the hospital and doctors, he recovered from a serious condition and has since gone back but I live here and have been at the receiving end from the debt collection agencies and a notice served by the police Sheriff's because ICICI Lombard has not paid a dime for the hospital charges. My dad's policy clearly stated that all hospital expenses upto $100,000 would be covered for a deductible of $100. They have refused to pay any amount so far.
DO NOT buy ICICI Lombard -- they do not deliver what they promise ! Victim |
