need help for taxation

i am on my opt and working as a consultant and my payrate is $30.5/hr. i just received my pay check for 15 days (80 hrs). but i just received an amount of $1700 for it.
so i need to know where is the thing going wrong or my company has cut the proper tax of my check?
plz provide any site which can help me to understand the taxation
