Hi again,
I am filling out my W4 for 2004 and have some questions. I am on H1B, my wife is not American, but is my dependant and in USA on an F1 student visa. While completing the W4, Section B of personal allowances asks if I am: 1) Single and have only one job 2) Married, have only one job, and your spouse doesn't work 3)... n/a I think I fall into category 2. But, later in the worksheet there is a note :If married, but legally seperated, or spouse is a nonresident alien, check the "Single" box. SO.. I'm wondering whether I claim as single for the whole W4? Seen as my dependant spouse isn't a resident and doesn't work! Anyone got advice.. Thanks Mike |
