I work in SC I live in Ga.Do I need to file a SC state tax w/my Ga state tax.I am doing my own taxes.It shows on the w-2 where they took out Ga tax but no SC tax was taken out.It has been awhile since I have done this.Any help would be appreciated.

First , All it matters where your employer is
1.if u live in X state but employer in Y State, most of the times u will prepare for Y state unless u have some other income in X state. 2.some time employer change u r pay roll to X state then u have to prpepare for X state. 3.If you worked for both X and Y staes then apply for both. Either way u will get different W2's.If not just apply for the one u get.Do what is mentioned in in your W2.that is the safe The best don't rely on me .call any tax prepareing offfices like hr block etc , ask them , sure they will help |
