for many good reasons.

There are very few known big insurance plan administrator companies (SRI, TravelGuard, TravelEx, TIS) who issue the insurance policy. They sell their plans through agents, these agent may sell through website or in person.

3.Don’t get too much confused, but do the basic research, buy from some one who you can provide you better and after sale support.

4. Do not make your decision under the influence of emotions when selecting a plan or company, just because a company name start with your country name or has America in it doesn't mean that you will get what you are looking for.

5. There are few which are online, and few which require you to do manual work like Download form, Fax etc, and it takes some time for you to get the ID.

6. If you buy Online you get an ID card instantly, that is ready to use.

SRI is one of known name and top insurance administrator which offers some excellent plans.

"Liaison International" A PPO type Comprehensive coverage plan with high ratings and is a popular plan.

"Travelers Liberty" and "Inbound USA" from SRI are the cheapest and affordable plans these with fixed coverage though.

Few other administrators like Diplomat America, TIS and IMG are another company, which also provide similar coverage and almost same rates.

You also get an online providers directory so it’s easier to lookup online.
Rest of the companies are really not very known.
