Default Opinion please

my mother in law recently had a stroke but recovered fully. but in the past 2 weeks alone she has been in ICU for 5 days and 4 more days in general ward. She is heavy diabetic + coupled with high pressure. Her pressure and sugar go out of range every week and she needs to be hospitalised.

All relatives feel that she has to be brought to USA since both her sons are here. Though the sons feel it is insane to bring her here in view of her medical condition - they are under immense pressure from others .

She has no relatives or neighbours who will help - she has a bad tongue and picks up a fight with everyone. Her husband passed away last year. She wants to be in
USA and is pestering her sons to bring her here. Incidentally in the past 2 yrs time she has been here 3 times. she left to India in july 2003.

Please advise whether it would be wise to bring her? Also could you please advise on roughly cost aspect for treatment for stroke or paralysis or fainting spells that need immediate attention and domestic help like a live-in nurse to take care of her? what type of insurance can one go in for?

Thanks

With all due respects to your MIL , you are inviting big time trouble here . Cost to emergency room is a 1000 $ every time and no amount of visitor insurance will cover the pre - existing conditions of visitors .

Home nurse is 30 - 40 $ an hour

Health services are very expensive for person without regular insurance in USA.
In this kind of case where a person comes on temp/visitor visa, the kind of insurance you get is short term insurance which cant really cover you for any Pre-exisiting conditions and are limited in many ways.

Default one more question

One fact I left out was when she was here this year my bil applied for her green card. should she get her green card what options are there for insurance which will cover her stroke, pressure-diabtetes imbalance, appointing a nurse at home etc
