Read the schedule of benefits of Inbound USA.
Max. coverage for emergency room is $500. A typical medical emergency in the US costs anywhere between $3000 to $10000. Max. for CT scan is $500. Typically CT scans cost about $5000. Using Inbound USA is as good as going uninsured. Some of the other plans are no better. ALWAYS READ THE BENEFITS CAREFULLY BEFORE BUYING INSURANCE. |

So , I guess your giving these figure at the worst case scenario. 5000$ is certainly not the cost for CT scan, its 800$ or even less.
This is true with any limited coverage plans whether its inbound or Visitor care or any other low premium plan. Simple logic : LOWER the COST , Lesser the Benefits. Such plans are good and suitable for healthy person with minium risk of medical care. For aged person where there are high chances for frequent Dr. visit and medical care, comprehensive coverage plans like Liaison international is good. one should keep these things in mind while deciding on which plan to buy and read the benefits offered by a particular policy. Dont forget that NO medical insurance will cover you for unlimited expenses. While the fact is , there are always chances for expenses which may go skyhigh for unseen medical conditions? and this is true for any one. |

Murali,
I beg to differ. Whole body CT scans do cost around $5000. MRI's cost around the same. Localized CT scans like CT scan for head cost slightly less, but definitely more than the $800 you mentioned. Keep in mind these are emergency room expenses, which are significantly higher than a regular pre-arranged rates which you can get at some places. Don't take my word for it though, call up your nearest 24 hour emergency center and ask how much a CT scan would cost. (No one will give you an exact number but ask for estimates). The point is if even if you are healthy, you can get into some accident requiring emergency treatment. Inbound USA will not cover all expenses, and a large amount will have to come out of your pocket. |

The specific example you are taking is true for Any Limited coverage plan whether it is Inbound or Visitors Care.
As a matter of fact thats why these plans are known as scheduled benefit or limited coverage plans. So I am not sure what specific point you want to make here? its up to you what TYPE of plan is suitale for the visitor and has nothing to do with PLAN name as such. Read this article for better understanding on this topic: www.path2usa.com/insuranc..._types.htm The insurance decision is highly depends on the risk, and while deciding, all such risk factors needs to be analysed. The need of a specific type of plan may vary from person to person.Your insurance plan needs may differ from some one else. My own example : When my parents visited I took Liaison International ( comprehensive coverage plan) for my mother who gets sick soon even chnaging wheather conditions does not suit her, Where as I took Inbound policy for my father who is normally fit and very less chances of him getting sick. |

I had taken Indnet (AIG) insurance for my father and he had to be taken to emergency as he complained about chest heaviness. Although all tests (EKG, chest X-ray, etc.) were negative, we received a bill of around $4000 from emergency. Obviously, the insurance company wouldn't cover more than $500. Has anybody run into similar situations and been successful in shaking off emergency from billing you so heavily?

My point is simple - All limited coverage plans are so limited in their coverage that in the case of an emergency you will end up paying thousands out of your own pocket. It defeats the purpose of having insurance. I strongly recommend everybody from relying on limited coverage plans for visitor's medical insurance. |
