I am facing too many problems for my spouse who is here in the USA on a H4 dependent visa. First of all she is not eligible to get a SSN and without which, getting her bank accounts and debit/credit cards are almost next to impossible !!!
Not having enough points due to lack of bank accounts and SSN, she even does not qualify for the NYS drivers license point system now !!! Can anyone share their personal experience if happen to be in the same situation and suggest the way out of this terrible deadlock situation? |

You can get an add-on credit card for her. that is what I had done when I'd just come to the US; my husband had got an addon card for me (amex) and I had used to that get a couple of points for my NY driver's license.
If you have an health insurance card with her name on it ( if it still counts towards License points). See if you can get a joint bank account in both your names. I know its tough. I had spent almost 5-6 months collecting all the paperwork/ points before I could even go apply for a learner's permit. |
