View Full Version : Port of Entry - assistance for non-english speaker

My mom is coming to US and her port of entry is chicago. she doesn't speak english well and I am flying to chicago to receive her. Can I join her for immigration or is there anyway she can't get a translator in the airport.

Some one please advice.

at POE, send a letter to the Officer that your mother should carry and she can give it to the officer interviewing her there.

I saw a format for that in this website please seavrch for it.
It should state that your mom is not fluent in English and ask them to grant 4-6 months of stay.

Hi!
Just prepare your mom for a few common questions asked like
Whom she is visiting, purpose of her trip, how long she wants to stay, why etc

Also write a letter and ask her to carry it with her stating the above answers and mention regarding her fluency in English.
