Hi,

My parents got a 4 months multiple entry visa and now have i 94 for 6 months. We are planning to Visit Canada during these 6 months. My question is that will they be given a new i 94 when we cross the border again? ( We will be travelling by road not by Air). If so is there a possibility of their i 94 getting shortened?

Let me know if it is a risk to go to Canada....?

Thanks,
Srikanth

Not sure, I think if they cross border via land/car there wont be any I94 where as if they travel visa air , there will be new I94 at POE, and yes it is quite possible that the I94 dates may be counted for total 6 months depends on officer there are no official guidlines for such situation.

CS,
Can you please post which consulate issued the 4 month visas for your family?

Also, the US border officials at Cdn land crossings are usually cool. We have done this twice (both times we had green card) they did just a bare minimum check. Just see that you re enter USbefore the 4 month window.

For traveling to Canada, there is no need to surrender I-94 while leaving. Upon returning they can show the same I-94, regardless of the mode(air/land) they are arriving. This has worked out for me several times. USCIS treats northern hemisphere entries in a different way.
