Hi,
I am a bit confused about the procedure to apply for B2 visa for Tourists.

I am currently in US and I want to call my Father somewhere in early 2006. He is above 60.

To start with it, we just need find one of the HDFC banks provided here.
When we goto HDFC bank what all documents do we exactly need...
1>We defnitely need 2 Demand Drafts (4400Rs and 276Rs)
2>Do we need passport/passport copies? If copies, which pages?
3>Do we need photo copies? If yes, how many?
4>As my father is above 60, he doesn't need DS-157. But do we need DS-156 at this time?

What all papers/forms/receipts we'll get after this?

Once this is done, after 2-3 business days, I am planning to schedule the interview ONLINE thru www.vfs-usa.co.in.
By the way is there any advantage of goint to VFS service center directly instead of doing it online? e.g. is it possible that we can get earlier interview date it went personally? Just heard this from one of my friends.

Now there is a 3rd step too. Need to send few documents to VFS.
1>copy of appointment letter. When and where do we get this? What if we schedule interview online?
2>Completed and signed VISA application forms. i.e. DS-156 right?
3>DD for insurance fee
4>photocopy (only 1 right?)
5>Supporting documentation....What all documents do we need here? Is this the same as "Documents required for inviting someone on Visitor Visa" or something else?

I would be really thankful if someone resolves my queries.
Thanks,
Prasad

1. You need to carry passport copy of first page and last page and pay the fees of 4400 and 276. One copy will do to carry to bank. In return you don't get DD, but something called "Fee Receipts" with some bar coding number.
2. After 2 business days, go online and enter the info after and book appointment.
3. I don't think there is any advantage going to service center.
4. After scheduling the interview online, it will create 4 pdf docs - appointment letter, DS156, DS157 and guidelines.
5. You need to take printout of all these docs to consulate at the time of interview.

good luck...
