Got 221(g) on Oct 24th

Hi all,
I would really thankfull this forum members coz when I was issued by 221(g) at Chennai,as Iam reading so many experiances, I didnt get surprised much,but slightly disappointed.
Let me explain what haapend.
24-Oct-2005 it was very crowd at consulate office and my appointment time is at 2:15 I was entered at 3:15 into embassy.
Here is the conversation.
Officer(Lady):Give me the passports(3) including dependents,and I-797?
Myself: I have given
Officer:Who is your current employer?
Myself:working in XXXX company.
Officer:Role?
Myself:Coding and testing for XXXX applications
Officer:Why do you want to leave this XXX company?
Myself:To work in USA to explore my self in advanced technology (worked only in maintainance projects in XXX ).
Officer: From which company you got this offer?
Myself:YYY comapny
Officer:Why you choose this YYY company
Myself:They are having good client base and direct vendors as clients
Officer:asked my wife what is wedding day,venue,child weight,which hospital she born?
Mywife:gave all answers and showed marraiage album also.
everything smooth up to here,the one last question
Which are the clients you going to work?
I have attented few technical rounds of interview and clients wanted my physical presence.
(she is not convinced seems)
Which client you would be working for?
( same reason) I didnt other option coz I have not assigned any client as iam in India
Then she took green form and ticked on one document,
"Iternary of projects and engagements,direct employers,agents with location and addresses"
She told you can come at any time without any appointment on Tue,Wed and Thu days.
with above document.
I thaught last question I didnt answer properly let me know if you have any different views on it.
One more important thing How tough next interview they will check presence of that document or they will ask again all these Questions

Since you said that your US company has good client base, they want to know for which client you are going to work.

They cannot let you enter in US for attending the interview with your company clients. You should know for which client you are going to work and what is your role in the US company etc.

I think you can seek this information from your US company and again appear for the interview, but this you should be very confident about your answers to Consular officer.

get a letter from ur employer that u r workin for such and such a clinet etc. and be confidant next time while u answer all questions. be prepared in al respects and be sure of the place where the cleint is lcated and al. things should be fine. all the best

As sumith stated your employer should be able to provide you with all that information in form of a letter and supporting documents, such as info about the company, contracts, financial statements etc.

The reason she asked you is since you told her that you had interviews with potential clients, it could be reasoned that your employer does not have at present a bonafide job offer. It is a case of saying too much. You could have been better of stating that you are going to work on ...database...or whatever, or even saying that you do not know.

Do not worry about it, just ask your employer to provide you with the information, you should be able to get it.

Thanks for your suggestions,I have not given exact document name yester day.
she ticked on below document.
"A complete itinerary of services or engagements specifying the dates of each service or engagement,the names and addresses of agent,the names and addresses of the actual employers,and the names and addresses of estiblishment,venues or locations where the services will be performed."

I asked my employer,they told they will provide this document.
My question is
"is this itinerary of my future clients or employers clients the reason why Iam asking is if they give some list of clients and projects which should not match my skill set then I will face the problem again.
So tell me some suggestions what I need to ask more from them before giving this document to me.
Another one I have written "about 3 years" in Visa application,for the field "How long you going to stay in USA?".
Is this itineray which they going to give should have all services for 3 years or just 1 year is sufficiant?

The documents they are asking is to prove that this a bona fide job and not some speculative job offer in the future. So if the employer has asked for 3 years in your H-1B application, he should try to document that you have a job to perform for those 3 years.

I am assuming it is a software company, so they should have gone through this dance before and will know what documents they need to provide. Normally, it will involve contracts with other companies, and specific work orders with your name on it (this sometimes is difficult to obtain) so provide the consulate with the documents you can obtain from your employer and see how it goes.

Hi Cheeks Pls let me know whats the your 221g/H1b status. My case is similar as yours.


Here is how it went on for me yesterday evening at chennai consulate and my case is in 221g.

VO: Good Evening. Can have your Folder.
Me: Here sir. Produced the folder.
VO: So what visa
Me: H1B
VO: Can i see your Degree Certificate.
Me: Yes, Produced the same.(B.Sc Comp Science)
VO: How many years of Experiance.
Me: X Years sir
VO: Can i see your experiance letters
Me: Yes, Produced the offer letters of xxx and yyy company
VO: Only one company you have worked.
Me: Showed the yyy offer letter which i had produced and said Two.
VO: ok.Who is your Employer
Me: ABC
VO: Who is your client
Me: AAA(As i was saying this)
VO: Can i have your clients letter.
Me: Here sir,again showed ABC Offer Letter.(As i didn't had the clients letter)
VO: I understand that, Where is the client letter,Address.
Me: ABC is Services oriented and as well as product oriented company.
VO: Sealed and Wrote something which looks like S/F/8 and
VO: Please get these documents showing the 221g form. You dont have to make a new appointment, You can come back on any of the tuesday,wednesday or thursday. Thanq

The officer returned all documents(Except DS156 and DS157) including the 221g and Passport.

1. What was written on the last page of my Passport i.e. what does it mean.
2. The Officer has highlighted the following in 221g.

* " A complete itinerary of services or engagements specifying the dates of each service or engagement,the names and addresses of agent, the names and addresses of the actual employers,and the names and addresses of the establishment,venues,or locations where the services will be performed."

3. What all documents this mean ?
4. If i get the FAX from my petitioner/employer is ok. Or should i ask them to send me via Postal Mail.
5. What all will the consulate ask me when i go next with the asked documents.

Helo All,
The query which I got it is very difficult to get i know there are few others also got.
few of my friends went consulate with end client invitation letter but they issued again 221(g).

They are asking Purchase Order and task order this is very difficult to get it.
My employer arranged some client interviews and I got through with one Client which is big client Z through Y(middle vendor).
Iam getting Purchase Order with Y this contains all details about the end client.
My question is here
Actually there are 2 POs
1) Between Y-Z
2) Between X-Y (where X is my employer)
It is not possible to get PO of Y-Z because Y is middle vendor.
But Iam planning to take X-Y PO where endclient details will be there.
I need suggestions Is there any chances of asking Y-Z P.O,if that is the case I will be in soup.
My employer told there is no way they can ask middle vendor PO and I need to tell them my client is Y and actual employer is Z .
Event I felt same but still if I get good suggestions from that would be great.
Please tell Can I take fax also,since it is Purchase Order consulate people might not aks for Originals.
I will sure update on my status so that it will be helpful for others.

Do not depend on fax documents...
I have attended my interview yesterday and got 221g.
VO asked me more details on project.. mostly a marketing analysis report.
I have asked him, do you agree if I get a fax report?
He said... with similing.. "Sir.. I need a clear document.. may be fax do not work out"

I said "thank you .. I will get you report"

So do not completely depend on Fax.. it may / may not work out.
Try to get them by fed-ex so that you can attend early.

hi all,

i got the same query when i went for the first time. That time i dint know who is my client. my employer gave me a list of clients and i said i will be working for any of these clients. Then officer said it should not be that way you should be knowing your client before you go to US. so get me that document.

so i said the same to my employer and they sent me a purchase order from one of their clients. next time i went and the officer asked me to show all the documents. he had a thorought look at my purchase order and rest of them n issued me visa.

so nothing to worry.

HI All,
I went yesterday again to consulate and got visa.I got 221(g) initially on Oct 24.
Yeseter day I was called at 11:30.

VO: Hi
Me:Hi
VO: Can I see u r documents
Me: I have given brown file.
VO: He looked at green paper 221(g) form and saw the query
query was:
" A complete itinerary of services or engagements specifying the dates of each service or engagement,the names and addresses of agent, the names and addresses of the actual employers,and the names and addresses of the establishment,venues,or locations where the services will be performed."

VO: Can I see u r itinerary?
Me: I have given my employer letter stating client project information and Contact information.
VO:I need letter from Client?
Me: I have given Purchase Order which is FAX,(client is not willing to give original)
VO: He verified address in Google earth software for 5 minits
VO: Pay the fees.

Thats it he didnt ask any questions.I got my visa.
Please take purchase order that is very authenticated document,I feel consulate should not ask for original because that is only one contain ur contract details and billing rate so they wont give originals.

i got 221g for the second time with two checkboxes in the 221g form selected.
one checkbox asks for complete itinerary of services..
and the other one asks for internal product description/timeline/status/market analysis ..

as per your last post(successful stamping), looks like you have submitted the project details with client and contract details etc for addressing itinerary of services.

i am going to work on the internal product. so i will be giving the product details..
but i am confused what kind of information is to be submitted to address itinerary of services in my case.

Is it something like client details?. in my case i dont have client.
anyone please suggest if you have an idea on this.

Sorry for late response,righth now Iam in USA in Seattle,working for AMAZON.com project.Iam just settleing down over here.
Actually internary means it is a purchase order where it contains your billing rates and end client deployments etc,,
If you give this doc he wont ask single Qn he has to stamp your visa.
You can talk to your employer and ask about this getting Purchase Order is difficult unless you dont have project,but it is upto understanding with your company/clients.
For me I attended interview and got offer while Iam in India itself.

I got the same 221(g) query at chennai consulate and VO asked to send the details thru Drop box including " a detailed and specific description of the internal development project to which the benificery will be assigned. Include a complete technical description of the project, timeline, current status, number of employees assigned to it, location of the worksite, and a maketing analysis of the final product". Can anyone send the format and sample documents. I know this document is confidential, pls you can send all in attachment to my email: srinkrao@yahoo.co.in. I request you and all of the forum friends, this will help me alot. Pls try to send asap.

Regarding format -> Actaully what ever your employer provide you can take to consulate officer,you will get visa,there is no standard format as such to judge it.
According to me your employer has to bother about that rather than you.
But it is not my intension that I dont want to share,it is appropriate if you can take from employer and go to Consulate.
