Hi,
I took Visitor visa appointment for my sister in august 2005 . I got visa appointment on Dec 2005.
Do we need o follow the new rules i.e pay visa fees before appointment at HDFC ?, or can we follow the old procedure i.paying at the time of appointment ?, Please clarify ?
also My sister is student , Do we need to show property or bank balance in her account ?.
If so how much ( minimum) should we show ?
or property in my father's name would be fine?
Thanks ....

- No for prior appointment follow the old process.
- If she is student you dont need any proprty documents for her.

Hi Murali,
I also applied prior to oct 3.
My mother has her appointment on nov 17th at chennai at 10.45 am.
Should she pay the fees a few hours before the interview on nov 17th
or
can she pay the fees one day before (she plans to arrive in chennai on nov 16th).
I know it is a frivolous question, but I am not sure how it works.
thanks in advance

usvisitor,
There is a new visa fee applicable from Nov 16th onwards.

Even If she taken appointment through TTS, she will have to take new Drafts with the new RS amount i.e 4600 for application fee and 2300 for visa issuence fee.
The fee can only be paid at the time of interview and not before that.

If booked through TTS just follow their procedure.

According to the US consulate webpage, the dd's has to be for
4400 and 2200.
Where is the visa fees increase (due to dollar conversion) mentioned in the chennai US consulate web page. ?

USvisitor, the officials inside the consulate will take the DDs . There is no bank inside.
Arunachalam. you are right it is not mentioned on the Chennai site yet but both TTS and VFS have posted it on their sites. Better to take the extra amount in DDs to be on the safe side.
