221g at Chennai - Any Suggestions welcome

Hi All,
I went to the chennai consulate this Oct with my wife and kid. I got a 221g asking details of the following

"A detailed and specific description of the internal development project to which
the beneficiary will be assigned. Include a complete technical description of the
project, timeline, current status, number of employees assigned to it, location
of the worksite, a marketing analysis for the final product"

Actually is project documentation necessary or just the summary will suffice. Also should the marketing analysis for the final product necessary? Giving the project documentation will affect the confidentiality agreement which the company has with the client. So how do I face the question, if the visa officer wants the entire documentation.

Also I will be able to get this letter immediately, since my company's president is currenlty in India, and I am planning to go to visa the coming week. So will it be a problem, will the visa officer ask how come I got the letter so early?
As it is 221g for that particular question will I be asked any other questions even after giving the asked document?

Dont worry, 221g is not a pure refusl it means they need more documents or do some background checking in mjaority of cases the moment you provide the document you get the visa.
I dont think they ask such questions about why and how you got the such documents fast..so take it easy

I called Chennai consulate and wanted to know the status. They said I was calling too soon as it was only a week since they issued 221g and was asked to call back atleast after one month! Hope atleast others get it sooner.

Hey Guys,
Thanks for all the help. I finally got my H1 stamped and H4 stamped for my wife and kid.

Actually after teh first time 221g, I went after couple of weeks to teh consulate. But unfortunately they made me to wait for 5 hours and then issued 221g for 2nd time. This time they asked one more document from the company where I will be working.

I finally got the required document this week and went to the consulate this week. But one good thing is they told me no need to bring the wife and kid. So I went alone with all 3 passports. But I again had to wait for 4 hours, then finally got into line.

The consulate guy was rejecting for all before me except one guy. I went and gave the documents, he checked for about 10 to 15 min, finally approved it.

One more thing I want to add is, if you have a small kid, better get some snacks or milk with you, everyone brought them except us when we went the 2nd time.

But now they have some cool drinks and biscuts inside the consulate itself, but better be prepared.

could you please share the format of documentation you carried for "internal product description/timeline/status/marketanalysis?

Because, i was refused for second time as this documentation was not correct.
please let me know . that helps a lot..

also, what was the additional doc, you were asked for the second time?

Mine was a similar case as what you have gone through. i went on feb 8th for h1 & h4 with my wife,kid,.they issued me a 221 (g) query and asked the same questions.

1) what format of documents you have taken second time.(Market analysis, some other mentioned in 221 (g) form).
2) what are the documents you have carried -for second time

Could you please share you exp.
