:) My inlaws went for an interview on Oct 14/2005 in chennai consulate..
My father in -law is 70 and MIL is 60 years old..

I didn't arrange for any interpreter since uncle can speak english well..

Here what happened in the interview:

(NOTE:- Visa officer had asked all questions in TAMIL..just for folks who didn't understand tamil, i translated it in english)

VO: Vanakkam Sir
FIL: Vanakkam
VO: Vanakkam Amma.
MIL: Vanakkam.
VO: Sowkiyamma? (How are u?)
FIL: Sowkiyam..
VO: Neenga enna panringae? (what are u doing)
FIL: I am a retired central government employee (he worked in Ordinance factory)
VO: Neenga marumakkila paaka pogunama? (do u want to see ur in-law?)
FIL: we need to see our daughter, Grand daughter and Son-inlaw
VO: Naan pesara tamil eppadi irukku? (how i am speaking in tamil?)
FIL: Very good.
VO: Pls go to the next counter and pay the fees and have a nice trip (this is only thing he talked in english)..

He didn't look/ask any docs.. He just got the application forms (DS-156)..thats it..

They got 10 years visa.
