221g in Chennai - administrative processing

I was on H4 and later got a H1B. I applied in Chennai and got a 221g initially asking for more documentation. Now, they issued another 221g saying that the case needs 'additional administrative processing'. This happened about 10 days back.

Now, I'm stuck in India as my H4 has previously expired.

How long does this 'adminitrative processing' usually take?

Is it possible to withdraw my application voluntarily and reapply for H4? Would this jeopardise my situation since there is an active query on my H1B application?
