My friend is planning to come to US for MS (Computers) in the Fall'2006 semster. She did her BE and worked for only a couple of months. Her Mom, Dad & younger brother are all in India.
(Though, she might be marrying a GC next year & she wants to get the visa while she is still single).

My question is :
How does one go about convincing/proving to a US Consular officer in India that she is going to return back after completing her Masters in US? ie How does one prove 'family ties' - does showing property, money and a nice family photograph do or is it have to be more like showing them to have concrete plans of a job/business in India after completion of Masters.

(I saw a couple of questions in this forum and was disheartened to read that they are giving the candidates a really hard time especially if they are young, single women.)

How many chances does one get for the F1 visa before getting disbarred from applying for any visa ? Is it total of 3 times or 3 times for each visa category.

Thanks & appreciate your input & helps.

Input from recently interviewed candidates would really help.

ps: How is the US Consulate at Kolkata (Calcutta), howz there record in giving student visas ?
