Hi,

I'm here in USA on h1b for the last 6 months. Let me know what it takes my wife and son to join me. My wife could not attend the interview along with me bcos my child was just one month old and she was under care after her delivery. Later some amount of time was spent in gettin passport and all and finally she took an appointment for november 1st week. Would the delay hinder their visa stamping, although the reason is genuine? Would her explation about her post delivery confinment at home be convincing to the consulate?
Also kindly let me know wht are the documents she needs to carry to the consulate in support of her explanation and also the documents in general apart from the ones listed in this portal. Does she need to carry phot copies of passport, marriage certificate etc along with the originals? Her sister holds a green card in USA. Would this hamper my wife's visa? Does the fact that she's also technically qualified (but is a homemaker at present ) hinder the process? What are the questions that she's likely to be asked? Please give me whatever details possible regarding H4.

Please go through the below link, for documents regarding H-4 visa.

As far as your wife's technical qualification is converned , it should not matter as she is not allowed to work on H-4 visa. And I don't think she will be asked about her siblings. Don't worry H-4 is the simplest visa to get as long as your H-1 and other documents are in place.

Hi Sumith,
Your wife will however have to fill one column in the DS 156 to say that her sister is an LPr in the US. But that will not really have any bearing on the H4 stamping as she has the legal right to join you in the US as spouse.
