Iam on H1. I want to sponsor visitor visa to my in-laws. But, names in their passports slightly mismatches with the names in my wife's passport. Does this make their visitor visa rejected at the consulate. Or do i need to provide any notarized documentation to support getting visitor visa for them.

Names in In-laws passport: Kasheshwar and Bharatha Laxmi (correct names)
Names in my Wife's passport: Kasheshwara and Bharathi

Thanks,
Ratnakar

which are the correct one? use those in the application form( as per applicants passport) .
As far as names in your wife's passport, ask your in-laws to prepare a affidavit and notarised stating that thier correct name are as per their passport. Carry that document and show ONLY if asked.

You mean my in-laws need to get an affidavit stating that names in their passport are the correct ones?

But, what happens if consulate asks why it is not matching with the names in my wife's passport.

Do my in-laws even need to carry some notarized documentation saying that names in my wife's passport and names in in-laws passports are both their names?

Thanks for reply,
Ratnakar

Hi Murali,all,
Got a question related to mismatching name in passport of
parents and child.
I saw in you reply earlier to keep quiet on this matter if not asked.

In DS156 there is a space to fill alternate surname and first name.
Is it ok to fill this space with the name that is different (wrong) and
explain where it appears when/if asked.
Or should I leave the alternate surname/first name fields empty?

Please suggest . Appreciate an early response..

Thanks,
ramakrishnahari

Hi,
Or another option is for the parents to carry the birth certificate of the child.
