Hi,
I have a few questions for people who have sponsored their moms to visit. But first a little b/g on my situation. I'm planning to have my mom over to help with the delivery of our baby. My parents have visited us before. They were here for 2 months, back in 2002.
They had a one year visa then. This time we're only planning to call my mom as my dad doesn't have enough vacation. They are both working right now. I have a sister who is married back in India.
Questions:
1. what reason should the mom give to come here?
2. About her ties at home?
3. And why she is travelling alone?
4. My husband will sponsor them since I may not have a job around the time she goes for an interview. Is that a potential problem situation?
5. have any of you gotten rejected after being approved once?
Thanks for your input.

I do not see any problem.
1. Visiting dughter and family to spend some quality time.
2. [ You know this answer - husband, job, propperty etc etc]
3. This is not a concern for them whether a person trvelling alone or not, its the choice of the visitor.
4. any one can sponsor.
5. Do not think negetive, be optimistic and follow the process I do not see any reason for rejection if follow the process and well prepared.

I had a similar situation like yours. I sponsored my mom alone two years back, asked only for a months time but she got 6 months visa and she returned in 5 months. My dad was adviced by his docs not to travel. So he did not apply. Again this June I sponsored my mom alone to help me with delivery. But i stated tourism and seeing us a reason and asked for 6 months. And she got 10 year multiple entry visa. Her ties back home were ofcourse her husband, her unmarried son, property, bank balance etc. She carried my dad's medical certificate, in case they asks and prepared all the docs according to this site and the US consulate. You can read the experience here under the same name : http://www.path2usa.com/experiences/viewexp.php?topic=20&page=2

One suggeston, try not to mention pregnancy/delivery as the reason.
Hope it helps, all the best.
