My mother had a visa interview at mumbai consulate on 08-aug-05 and she was denied the visa. The reason they said was that her financial condition was not good. Its absolutely wrong because I am working for a Big 5,earning well with a good bank balance. She too has a healthy bank balance, fixed deposits & property in her name.

She carried all the documents and also affidavit on stamp paper convincing her return to India. She is a widow (my father expired 13 yrs ago) and I have an younger unmarried sister back in India.

They asked questions about me, what I do, how much I earn etc, herself and she replied correctly. But neither did they look or asked for any docs.

Friends I read a lot to carry this and that document, but my query is do they take or look any documents like affidavit, statement etc while giving the interview appointment along with DS-156 form at mumbai consulate. If not then they ask all question just based on one form (DS-156)....is it true?

Still I don't know under which section her visa was rejected. But would like your help & advice as how to proceed further and how do I make them look into the document file. Do I need to send a letter from senate or somehting like that.

Thanks,

Jai

1. First find out what clause and exact reason in details abt the refusal.
2. You can be better judge to guess what might have gone wrong .Ask questions from your mom in details and analyse the whole situation, this will be helpful to determin your next step and what can help.

3. Iterview is the key and a lot depends on it, documents are important but not as important as interview, so make sure that she is well prepared.

4. Search on this forum for similar topic and I am sure you will get some good and useful tips which help you to prepare better next time.
