Hi.
I wish to invite my family on Visitor visa.
At the time of application, I heard that they only need the DS-156, DD, my visa/i-94 status copy and photos.
I have prepared all documents the sponsor needs to send as specified on this site and sent them over.
Do they need to submit those at the time of application OR these need to be only carried alongside at the time of interview - which takes 2-3 months from now.

Thanks in advance for any replies

for mumbai consulate u have to send some docs in advance - u can find this list in the interim appt letter when u book appt online.

for other consulates u have to take these with u for the interview - no need to send anythg in advance.

Thanks so much for the rapid response!
I was planning to ask them to apply in person instead of online, since I heard that you wil get a date of around 2 months from now (Mumbai) that way.
With online you will get no date before Nov 10 2005

Please let me know if my understanding is correct.
If so, could you possibly share with me the list of docs needed apart from the ones I mentioned at the time of application.

Also please let me know if its not advisable for them to go personally (if you know of any reasons whatsoever)

Warm regards
Vikmer

while taking appt - u just need all thats mentioned on the website.
click on the link that says "required documents"

add to ur list
both original passports must be taken to vfs office while booking appt - they will scan the last page and give u a copy with vfs seal - u need this copy as proof when u get the passports by courier.
