Hi All:
Just wanted to share both good and bad news. My parents and my 4 year old niece(my sisters daughter) went to Chennai. My pafents visa was granted but 4 year old neices visa was rejected saying that she needs to visit with her mother and not grand parents. They said that she will have plenty of tiem to visit US.
My parents visa was granted immediately as soon as my dad showed the person all the documents. The visa officer asked for my info and my dad showed even pictures of house they will be staying at (that is my house).
In all I am really happy that my parents got the visa but really sad that my niece could not.
One thing that is really important that my dad emphasised is that they are going to US after me living here for 11 years and also showed strong ties to grand children in India.
This forum has been extremely helpful. I prepared everything right from documents to my parents interview from here. I appreciate all your feedback.
I am thinking of applying for nieces visa with here Mom next time. They said that minor cannot go with anyone other than their parents either Mom or Dad should go. The visa officer said that he has this rules from upper mgmt.
