Reg. getting Indian VISA stamping in US passport

Hi,
We r planning to go to india..My kid was born here in US..
Can anyone tell me approximately how long it will take for getting India stamping in US passport for my Kid?? ..Also please tell me how long it will take to get PIO card?
which is beneficial indian visa or pio card?

1. depends on which Indian consulate you will be approaching to, it mormally take 5 to 10 days, if send by mail. I did via mail , for my son sent to SFO , it came in 5 working days with visa stamp.
If you go in person you may ge it same day.

2. Its your choice whether to go for a PIO card of short term visa. PIO does have certina flxibilities but if you do not have plan to logn term stay in India visa is equally good.
