Hi,

My mother's visa interview in Chennai is on Aug 18th. I will be sending her all the papers in about 2 days. We moved to USA only in Feb of 2005 from Canada on L1 Visa, therefore we haven't yet filed any tax returns in the USA. Is it ok to send our Canadian tax returns. My husband is sponsoring my mom and he has mentioned this point in the letter to the consulate. We have taken copies of Canadian tax returns for 2004& 2003. Do you think it is ok or will it be a problem not having any US tax returns?

Also, my dad passed away in August last year. She is now living with my sister. Is it ok if she writes 6 months for period of stay in her application or should she mention 3 or 4 months. So far, we have prepared all the documents stating 6 months. She also has a return ticket valid for 6 months? What do you think?

Hi Rampad,
Firstly, how can produce some documents, W2s and Tax Returns in your case, if it can be well understood and expected that you will not have it?
The Visa Officers will certainly understand this as you are going to be mentioning it on your letter.

Secondly, don't ever put 6 months anywhere on the apllication. By trend, the officers go mad at this. Anything between 2-4 months is fine.
