Does Applicant require application letter to consulate?

Hi,

My wife and daughter are applying for visitor visa in new delhi. I have 2 questions
1) Do they require to make a normal application letter stating that they want to go to US and applying for US VISA.
3) Do i need to send two different invitation letter for my wife as well as for my daughter. or only one letter will do which will be in name of my wife.

Please help to clarify.

Hi,
Your wife and Child need not write any covering letter to the Consulate written by them. You have to write one letter to them requesting the Consulate to issue a visa to both of them. You can give your wife and child one sigle invitation letter.

I am just curious to know why they are coming on a "visitor visa". What is your status in the US?
