Hi,

I am applying for a visitor visa for my mother. I am a green card holder.

Does it matter if I am the sponsor for my mother and not my husband? I am working and I just decided to fill out the forms and be a sponsor. But I have this sudden doubt, what if the interviewer finds a son-in-law's invite more assuring that my mother will go back? And is son-in-law's invitation preferred or has more odds for a successful visa than a daughter inviting her mother?

Any suggestions?

Thanks!

either of u can sponsor (this might not make a major difference) - u have to apply with sponsor's relevant documents.

note that visa approval is based on the applicant's ability to prove strong ties to India at the time of the interview.

Thanks ronline. I also have another question in the I-134 form. My husband is working and I do not have any financial dependants. Do I need to add my spouse's name for question 8 in the I-134 form? According to this question, I should list the names of people who are dependent on me for support. The 'support' does not indicate the nature be it financial or any other. So I am a bit confused here.

According to the path2usa guidelines for filling this form, I should add my spouse and mark 'partially dependant'. I do not think this is the right answer for spouses who are working and I would like to double check this in the forum!

Thanks for your time.

Thanks ronline, for ur suggestions.

I am filling up the DS-156 form for my mother.
For the question "How long do u intend to stay in the US?" , what is the best answer? My mother will not stay for more than 4 months but I heard from some of my friends that its best to say 3 months in this form and during the interview, even if the actual intent is 6 months. Is this true?

Any suggestions?

Thanks for your help.

I have an other question as well--> I filled the form online and I did not handwrite the form.
After completing it online, I saved it and I will print and send it to my mother.

In the online form for question 37,( Are any of the following persons in the US or do they have US legal permanent residence or US citizenship) I selected daughter. But there is no space for writing 'Legal Permanent Resident' and I had to write 'LegalPermanentResident' with so spaces. Is this ok or do you have any suggestions? I am a green card holder . Can I say Greencard holder ?

Thanks!
