Bringing foodstuff from INdia

Hi

My parents are bringing some foodstuff- sweets,pickles from India.
On the customs form- do they write 'yes' for the question 'are you bringing food,plants from india?' One of my friends said to write 'no' but then if they open bag and see,they would be lying.

Is it ok to write' yes'?

I think they are more concerned about people bringing in live plants and fruits or meat, poultry etc.
Bringing in sealed jars of pickles and boxes of sweets should not be a problem. Let them mark that question as a no because a yes would definitely mean a search and possible confiscation of the bag.
Most of the time the customs staff don't even bother to open your bags so it should not be a problem.

Pickles are never a problem as long as they are non-meat and are packed in aj ar having a label on it
