Hi,
I am getting married in USA so I am requesting my parents to attend my wedding. I have a sister who is unmarried (26 yrs). My parents and my sister are going for the interview and show the wedding invitiation I am sending from me. I can't goto India because my H1-B visa expires in August and I have applied for EAD.
If anyone was in a similar situation before, can you post the questions asked by the immigration officer, what documents sent related to the wedding(Invitation, marriage license etc) and the outcome of the interview.
I realy appreciate any comments and thanks in advance

Hi,
I had a similar situation 2 years back, i was married here. I submitted visa petition for my mother and brother(my dad couldn't travel due to health reasons). Prepared all the documents accordingly and also sent my wedding invitation( I couldn't send the marriage license). All the counsular officer asked my brother was(the interview was in English and my mom can't speak English) why they want to go and he told the reason. Then the officer told him sorry he can't grant my brother a visa since he is a potential immigrant, but my mother got the visa. (My brother had documents showing that he is taking off from work, and also that he is joining an MBA programme next month). My brother tried telling that my mom don't know English and its her first time travel and so it will be very helpful if he can go with her. Then the officer nicely said that will be taken care of, there are lot of people to assist first time travellers he don't have to worry abt it. So the outcome was my mom got 6 month visa (I asked only for 1 month just to attend my wedding as per my lawyer) and my brother was denied. I think my dad and grandmother being back home also helped my mom getting the visa. But the outcome for my brother's visa was kind of anticipated.
On another note, my mom again got another visa just yesterday. Don't know for how long it is, have to wait for her passport. This time again my dad is not accompanying her and neither is my brother.
All the best for your parents visa.

Hi,
I had the similar situation last year. I was getting married last year June and requested my parent and sister (21) to apply for visa.
They all got rejected. Reason was tell your daughter to get married here instead you all going there. It was so rude. I had to marry without them. It was my best and worst day of my life.
If you are prepared to get married without your parents then go ahead.
Suggestion:
If possible do not give wedding reason, make something else up.
