I have the green card and my fiance wants to visit me for 3 months in US. She has enough funding plus is getting two letters of support. She is enrolled in graduate school back at home and has a job (which allows her to leave for 3 months). She does plan to go back to home country for classes/job in November. Question: Is it wise for her to even mention me or that we are engaged when applying for visa (other letter of support/person would be enough)?

I guess this leads to another question. Eventually we want to spend a few years living in US. What is the best way for us to proceed (I will qualify for citizenship in a year)?

Thanks...

Very risky for her to apply unless she has very strong financial & social ties, since she is not married it is a tough one, if she applies and gets rejected it will make things worse, my advise get your citizenship, apply for a K1.

thanks h-boy04....guess I should have added that I am not from a country from which there is a strong influx of immigrants to US (not sure if this matters at all) and getting a tourist visa is not too dificult. had 4 friends visit me before (at once) without strong financial or social ties. i am pretty sure she can visit me as a friend, but not so sure as a fiance...

Please let me know which country you are orignally from, if it is easy to get a tourist visa then it is okk, if you are from a visa waiver country then it is no problem.
