Hi,
My parents attended tourist visa interview at Chennai. My Dad is a DRDO Scientist. They asked a few questions and then kept aside the application. The consular officer mentioned he would send an e-mail questionnaire. He also asked for his CV and his itinerary details in the US. He mentioned that all documents are fine and they have to do some background administrative processing.
So, we are not sure how long this will take.
Has anyone gone through such process ?
Thanks,
Sankuja

Hello Everyone
My dad who is retired from DRDO (Defense) had his visitor's visa interview today and he was grilled on his work at DRDO. The application file was not opened as such and he was told to fill out an online questionaire and submit it. Bsed on his responses, he may be required to come back for another interview.
Could someone let me know what this means, is it that his chances of getting a visa have reduced or how easy/formal is this process. My mom already has a visa.
Any help/guidance is greatly appreciated!!!!
Thanks a lot

Hi,
My experience has been pretty similiar to what has already been discussed above. My parents attended visa interview in chennai consulate on Jan 11 2007. My Mother was issued visa immediately, not a single question asked. My father had a bad experience once he mentioned that he worked for Defense department. He was given a pink slip 221g and was asked to email all the answers to the questions that were mentioned. We did reply back the same day in the evening. We then did not hear anything for the next 1 week. Today (Jan 19 2007) we got a email asking for more details about my fathers nature of work.
Iam totally confused and dont know how to deal with this now. Can somebody with similar experience please guide me.
Thanks

From two mails ... not sure related to this topic but thought would help some of you
>>Any thing related to Research they would want to look @ your application >>twice. Unfortunately for DOE i think they look @ it more than once. +ve >>side since it is tax exempt you have to carry less documents and chances >>of your visa being rejected are miniscule (for good reasons). But then all >>of us know it's luck and VO. I adivse all of you to get it done in any of the
>>border posts here.
>>> If any of you have received tht dreaded email you might be suprised >>> it is different and changed from your last email.
>> It is different issue if you worked in armed services back home,
>> They let you through after verifying what weapons training you had
>> Defense Labs is a cake walk unless you were involved in testing.
>> 2 month visitor visa's have never been rejected for any of us so far
>> let me know if you need more info

We are also in the same boat.
My parents attended for a Visitor visa interview on Dec 02, 2006 My mother got the visa for 10 years with out a single question and my father got 221g pink slip. When consular office asked about all the jobs he had done in the past he had to mention about working 2 years in boarder security force (BSF) as an electrician in 1970's. As soon as they hear some kind of security organization (either military or some thing like that ) I guess they will give 221g to do background administrative check. I did not get the point of checking about the work he had done more than 3 decades ago.
We answered all questions on Dec 13, 2006 and now we are playing waiting game with consular office. Lets wish that they will get through.
