The US consulate in Mumbai rejected visitors visa to my unmarried brother yesterday who is in his late forties for the 2nd time in 2 years. He was told he doesnot have enough strong ties. He has travelled to US before on theatre performance tours, has travelled to USA , Canada, England and returned back everytime. also travelled on rotary assignments here to US. The consulate officer did nt look at any of his papes. All he asked was

what do you do .. works in bank
Why are u going... escort nephew back and spend time with family
Who is there... sister and family
Who else is there... brother and family
How long you want to stay.. 30 days

We have an older mother and sister to take care back home.
He was not given enough time to answer his questions. Just bombarded one after the other.

What are his chances if we reapply and what kind of doucmentation should he create to improve his chances. Appreciate members sharing their experenices with visitor visa for family members other than parents.

Thanks

Very interesting situation, give us details on his financial and social ties to India, there has to be a reason behind that, reply back.

owns house, has good savings, stock investment, secure job, steady income. take care of older mother and single sister in India. They didn't check any financial papers. They didn't even ask for it.

The reason for the trip should be tourism as he is applying for a tourist visa, if he has traveled to US before it should not be that hard, this is very rare, I think he should reapply and be more aggressive and show them his financial & social ties and stress that he has been to US before and that he has no intention of living there illegally or violating his status. That is a hard one.
