Hello Friends,

First Atempt: My parents attended the interview first time in March 2005 and were refused under 214(b). My father has a small business and mother is a housewife. He has all the documentation with him like property papers, business papers, bank account details. Proof from my unmarried younger sister's college etc. But the counsoller has not seen anything and simply refused after getting the answer of the only one question asked: How many kids do you have?

Second Attempt: In june again they appeared and the counsoller saw all the papers and refused. This time she has not given any reason. No 214(b) or any thing. The questions asked:
What do you do? A:Self employed.
How much you make? A: 85K
Who is in US? A: My son

After a while she said sorry. Please help what went wrong?

Is there anything that can be done? My parents speak hindi and the questions asked were also in hindi.

Please advise. Thanks

Income you mentioned is per year or per month ?

It's good to show them around 20k+ per month as income.

85 K per year.. actually he has a small business... also he is planning to retire soon (not told to CO).. Subbmitted the affidavit for the market value of home/property/fds etc for around 20 L.
I am supplimenting it by affidavit of support.

How much exactly they look for?
How much they are looking for retired person?

I personally feel that the income you mentioned is not a good one to show them. My parents mentioned something like that during their first interview and they also failed to demonstrate their strong ties with home; so their visas got rejected under 214(b).

Second time my mom appeared alone; VO mainly stressed again on the income part. This time my mom mentioned some good figure as income putting my dad's income + rentel/intrest income together. VO clearly asked "Is it per month or per year ?". My mom said "xx.xK per month". Other factors also played well, and she got 10 yr visa.
