How soon we can apply for Visa again after a denial?

My parents got their Visa rejected today. They told that they were asked how many days they intend to stay in US. My father told that he would like to stay for four months. But, in DS-156 form, they wrote it as 6 months, since there is a mis-match they rejected the VISA.

How soon can we take the next appointment?

u can reapply after a minimum of 3 days for mumbai consulate - for other consulates there isn't any such restriction.
u can apply any number of times for the visa.

I read in the following article, that once VISA is rejected, then for Chennai Consulate it needs at least three days and that too there are very high chances of getting rejected. Is this true?

There are cases where approvals were got after 5 to 6 attempts
Visa denial is is not based on previous denials as the interviewing officer decides on a specific case.

If u have all required documentation & prepare well for the interview there should be no problems on the next attempt
