H1 Visa Stamping

Hi

I have a h1b visa from a company A which is valid till sept 2006.I joined a company B in april 2004 and processed a h1b through that company (h1b transfer) which is valid through jan 2006.I also have a i-94 till sept 2006.

My questions are
1) Should go to india for stamping before 2006 Jan or Can i apply for extension of the h1b by decemeber 2005 if I am within the country (US) ?.

Please let me know it very confusing.your help is appreciated.

if u have transferred ur h1 to new company then extension also is thru the new employer.

Ur h1 extension petition can be filed up to 6 months before expiry of current h1 status. (jan 06) Extension must be filed using form I129 and can be done while u are in the US.
Once u get new I94 with new dates ur status gets extended till the new date.

Current processing times for ext of status can also be found on uscis.gov.
Valid Visa stamp is only needed for travelling and reentry (Inside the US, I94 determines status)
