minimum passport validity (in months) to apply for US VISA

Hello all ...

I am in the US on L1 B VISA which has expired (I94 valid until 2007) and am slated to go to India to renew the VISA. My daughter who is on L2 also needs to do the same, however her passport expires just 2 months after the Consular interview.
Would there be any problems during the interview? What issues might arise? Please advise.
