Dear friends,

My parents got visitor visa [donno for how many Years though] in Mumbai consulate today[ May 2nd] 930 AM.Interview as On time. My parents called me at 935 am with good news.

My husband had sent all the papers as suggested in path2usa.
Thanks a million murthy and path2usa.

The questions asked to my dad were as follows

1. Whats your job?
2. How can you manage 6 months leave?
3. What is your annual income?
4. how many children do you have?
5. What do your children in India do?

Thats it the lady asked them to pay and Said have fun.

My dad is Workin in a govt institution since 30 years and still has 5-6 years for retirement.Mom is a housewife.Brother works in MNC in India.

Suggestions
-----------------
I wouls suggest that you should fill the form too and send it to parents.I am not sure I think that helps.

You should prepare your parents well with most commonly asked questions

My dad and mom speak good english but still we took marathi translator ,just in case .

They dont allow anything except the documents inside so keep all of them at Hotel/Home.

Wish the officer Good morning/ Namaste.

Even if this post helps one family to get their parents to visit USA , I will be more than happy.

All the best .

Thanks to path2usa for helping so many of us.

I would suggest start preparation atleast 4-5 months before. Since the wait time is long and If unfortunately it is rejected then parents can reapply.

One mistake I did. :(
-------------------------
I had no idea that we can take appointment without documents sent from USA[sponser]
So taking an appointment early will help.

:) Hotels close to Mumbai Consulate if at all you need.[ This is from posts from 2 Friends from the path2usa Forum itself] :)

1. Please check the timescity website
Any hotels around Kemps Corner/Warden rd/bhulabhai desai rd/ mahalaxmi/breach candy wld be close to the consulate. Most of the hotels in these areas are good.

timescity.indiatimes.com/
Select City Mumbai - category Hotels
In ur search option just select "South" as the Zone - all other options can be blank - From the list u can decide the appropriate ones.

2. Both my parents and in-laws stayed at Hotel Gulistan besides Minerva theater. Its 10 minutes by taxi from the consulate. You can book room by emailing them at hotelgulistan@asia.com . Its good accomdoation at reasonable price.

The room rates for AC Double bedroom is Rs.1040/-(One thousand and forty only) which includes tax.Extra mattress charge is Rs.150/-(One hundred fifty only). So, accordingly three guests can easily accomodate in an AC Double bedroom very comfortably. Check-out time is 12 noon

3. I found out that Hotel rosewood is Close to the consulate too. Cost is around RS 600-800. I dont have any idea about the rating but it is government aproved.

Hope this helps.
If any questions U can email me at apoorva_padi@yahoo.co.in

All the best !!
