Hi All,

I applied for H1B at Chennai consulate. my VISA was rejected saying that additional Administrative Processing is required which will take 30 days. Additional fee of $85 (Rs 3910) and my fingerprints was collected. Now I should wait for the consulate response before applying for the visa again.

On what basis they decide to do so?? I have visited USA in past on business visa so could this be the reason, consular officer wanted to do a security check??

Does anyone have experience of this kind?? Normally how much time does it take to process the fingerprints and respond back to the applicants? What are the chances of getting the visa second time?

Thanks in Advance
Prakash

hi i have the same problem too. i went for my H1B stamping this feb . i came from USA for my mother's funeral. they put me on hold on 221-g and told me to fill a questionnaire and email and not to contact them for 21 days. am still waiting for 3 weeks now. i know a person who is waiting for the last 5 weeks. i think they run a security clearance at random. unless u get the clearance from USA, they will not stamp your visa. Was yours a visa refusal (221-g) or visa rejection(212-b)? do let me know
