Hi,
I am a US Permanent Resident and would like to invite my brother who is 26 years old, unmarried, working in India with a reputed company and currently in Japan for 3 months on a business trip. He is a software professional and has travelled to Japan before. He wants to visit us from Japan and plans to apply for visitor visa in Japan. He has never been to US and holds an Indian passport.
Could anyone please share any similar situation/experience and/or put some light on the chances of getting the visa.
Thanks in advance.

He can surely apply for US visitor visa while he in JAPAN itself.
Process is very much same, he can go to the local US consulate.
He may not need any sponsorship if he can demostart good bank balance and satisfy the cosnular officer with all thier questions during the interview.
ask him to visit US consulate Japan website for details abt if they have any specific requirements for that consulate.
A invitation letter from you to him and to the consulate requesting to issue a visitor visa for him will help.

hello,
i am also in same situation. i applied for a visitors visa from france to usa. but the consular officer is more worried that why am i applying for paris. He asked my residence permit and just because i convinced him, that i am legally allowed to stay in europe and i have residence permit, he accepted my application form and gave visa.
since you said, ur brother is in japan for 3 months (short duration) they may ask strong ties with japan. So, better try to prove that he had some strong ties with japan. Otherwise he may not be convinced. Since i am a student here and have residence permit, i could convince him.

Hello Subbooo, Murali and Neesan,
My concern very much falls into this line of discussion here .I want to apply for US visa from Germany. Could you please advice me?
1.Myself in Germany for 3 months project.(software job)have got work permit of three years till aug '09
2. In view of the UK transatlantic aircraft plot of liquid explosives- has there been any change of rules ?
3. Will there be much difference in applicant's and sponsor's documents here than in India ? Is it ok to call the US Consulate in Germany directly and ask them about the list of docs required?
4. When I return to India, can I travel from India to US with this visitors visa? Or I need to visit US consulate in India?
I need the information as soon as I can,
thank you very much in advance,
Bhakti.
