Wrong date of birth in all H1B Documents.Please help me..

Hi, I supposed to go for stamping on March24.Last minute i have found that there is a mistake in date of birth and not mentioned complete name and also differently mentioned in each document ( note:my name is lengthy name).So cancelled the visa interview.I informed to my consultancy about this.He said that he will apply for change so that we will receive new set of documents.
My doubts are..
1.was it good idea to cancel my visa appointment?because i have to wait till june to get the new appointment.
2.what is the process for corrections in H1b papers?how much time it will take?is it a severe problem?
I am expecting your guidance and suggestions.

If there are several mistakes, better to get it acorrected.
Correction to an already approved petition should not be big problem and your comepany lawyer should be able to take care of it, it may certainly take some time though.
