how to get other (prior)appointment

Hi,
My in laws got visitor visa appointment on june 9 th . My friend told me that u can get prior appointment if u call chennai consulate or check in tt services web site ( In case some one cancels their appointment ) . is there a way to check any prior appointments are avalible in tt services site ? please help

I heard on this forum that, if you keep trying and looking for available slots you find some early if some one cancle one.
Calling Consulate will not help since its controlled by the TTS itself.
