Visa length and process

My in-laws went to get their visa in Delhi and they were not told anything but to submit the money for the visa and that their passports would be couriered to them. What does this mean? does it mean they got their visa? how long for?

That means they were not refused a visa but granted a visa, the length of the visa will be known once the passports are returned, the visa length is very subjective depending on how good the interview went, ranging from 3 months to 10 years. so relax and wait for the passports.
