Hi,
I m on H-4 visa in US and came to India to finish my studies.
I have a 13mths old kid born in America.
Can he stay more than 6 months in India?
What do I need to do for that as my studies can take an year.
Any help in this direction will be appreciated.
Thanks.

If your baby has PIO card, there is no limit on stay, only thing is after first 6 months you need to go to Superintendent Police's office or nearest registration office and register your baby's PIO card, after that you do not need to re-register or do anything as long as PIO card is valid. But if your baby travels outside India, you need to follow same process again.

If the stay goes beyond 180 days( 6 months) you need to register and inform at nearest police station and keep a copy of that report that may be helpful at the airport.
Also, must verify this by calling a India consulate nearby you can find the Indian consulate in USA address and phone here:
