My mother's visa got rejected at Mumbai consulate on 20th Jan. Im her only daughter and she is widow. She runs coaching classes. She had carried along with her property documents, income tax papers, share holding statements, Fixed deposit statements. But none of the documents were even seen by the officer. She was just asked one question, "Whom do u stay with in India?" and when she said,"i stay alone", the officer said im sorry i cannot grant u a visa on the basis of 214B.
Now we are planning to re apply. But i found lot of similar negative cases on this site. Do u think re-applying under the same conditions would help? Shud we get my grandmother's(her MIL's) name transferred to her ration card(it is currently in my uncle's rationcard)? Will that help? Any other suggestions?

There is no harm in trying and people do get visa by re-applying.
Interview is the key and let her handle the questions little smartly , you may need to coach her for responding to questions in way she makes her point of coming back.

If we add her mother's name or mother-in-law's name in her ration card will the consular officer question the change? Do they keep a record of old answers? Will it cause any problem?
