Hi All,
My PILs attended visa Interview at Chennai Consulate today.This was their second attempt ,first time was in Sept.
Overall impression:
Officer was polite and patient.Translator was helpful.
Questions asked:
1.How many kids do you have what do they do?
1 daughter-in India married ,2 sons-one in US ,one in India.(Initially the officer misundestood that it was 1 son & 2 daughters ,later corrected himself)
2.Why do you want to go?
Tourist purposes.
3.Who is in US?Where does he work?
My son xxx .He works for XYZ. .
(then the officer asked if the Co, had a branch in our state too..casual talk)
4.Is he married?Any kids?
Yes,no kids.
5.Is ur DIL pregnant?
No.
6.How long do you want to stay there?
3-4 months.
7.Why only 3 months?
We want tocome back and fix our 2nd son's marriage.
8.Oh OK.What does he do?
He is a SW.... in XYZ co,
9.How long have you been in Chennai?
40 yrs,most of our life.
10.Do you own a home here?
Yes.
11.Who was you employer?
Retired as XXX from XYz co.
12.Can I see a copy of ur son's passport?
They handed out the bunch of papers tha we had sent and showed the PP copy.He took the whole thing and just browsed through and handed it back to them and said,
OK,your visa is granted ,you may pay the fees.
Changes made :
Last time we had requested 6 months, now 4 months.
Requested for translator.
Also we prepared affidavit of assurance for return,family foto, etc.but they were not asked for at the interview.But would have been helpful if the officer had probed even more.
Visa duration: Will update as soon as they get their passport.
