My parents had an interview on 01/13/05 for visitor visa at Mumbai consulate. Officer has asked only two questions.

(1) Who lives in the US?
(2) What does he do?

Answers were
(1) My son
(2) He is a software consultant.

That’s it.... did not even look at the single document and visa application rejected under 214(b). I don't understand one thing. Without even asking a single question about social or financial ties or without even looking at a single document, how do they decide to refuse the visa under 214(b). Isn’t it a questionable process at consulate?

I am just thinking of asking my parents to reapply in next few days. Hopefully officer will ask few more questions before taking any decision.

Any advice appreciated

Do not get discouraged, a lot of factors play into each officer's decision, it may be the way he read the body language of the applicants and he/she felt the case is not genuine, so in that case just prepare them again and this time have them make an affidavit or a letter stating that the last time the ofificer did not even look at our documents, I am sure next time some one will look at them, make sure you follow the document list posted here, good luck!!
