EAD and h1

HI,
I am moving to USA on H1 visa.And i have also IV number available by family immigration petition. I am planning to file AOS after landing there on H1 visa. Kindly guide me :

1) What advantages i will be having if i get my EAD over working on H1 employer?
2) Should i have to inform my current employer about EAD and AOS?
3) Does EAD would give some benefits in Job placements over H1?
