I94# is blank in I797A document

Hi Friends,

I came to United States on March 7 2008 on H4 Dependent Visa. My H4 is valid upto sep 30 2009.

My employer applied for my H1B in march 2009. My H1B is approved but the problem is I94# field is blank in I797A document.

Could you please tell me how to correct my I94# field . I applied for SSN in october and I got it.

Do I need to go to india for stamping immediately?

That seems strange. What does the approval notice say, does it say that the change of status was approved?

Yes It says the H1B is approved from october 1st 2009 to 2012. It is I797A document

There are two parts to the H1 petition, 1 is the work authorization and second is change of beneficiary's status.
Does your notice state that the beneficiary's status has been changed?

In the bottom section of the I797A document there are 2 parts

1) Detach This Half for Personal Records
