Hi ,I am confused with so many thread on the posts over citizen ship for US born babies , so starting new one

Me and my wife are in confusion on where should we deliver our baby due on December,
We are not inclined to stay in US for more than 2 years and I want my kid to have Indian citizen ship. I would like to know what are the options we have if we decide to give birth to our baby in US

Please suggest and thanks in advance.

I would suggest having the baby in USA. that way there are 3 options in front of you, if you have the baby in India there is only one option (Indian Citizenship).

If you have the baby here, baby is US citizen by birth. Get a birth certificate as future proof. The baby can apply for Indian citizenship at any Indian consulate in USA as the baby would be born to Indian citizens. This will in effect renounce the US citizenship.

Now when the baby becomes an adult and wishes to live in USA, he/she can go to US consulate in India, apply for US passport and renounce Indian citizenship.

I also read this somewhere on the web, please check with a lawyer or the Indian and US consulate websites.

Congratulations and Good Luck!!
