i am looking for issuance of visitor visa for my mother in law. few things which i wanted to know:
1.is it necessary to sponser the person.
2.my mother in law is not ok with english, so can she take someone along with her for translation or smbdy as consulate would be helping her.
3.she is a housewife. here is the document list which we are preparing for her if someone can check and tell if im missing smthing.
DS 156
DS157
passport
2 photographs
visa fee receipt issued by bank
interview appt letter
letter of invitation
bank statement/passbook for last 6 mths
photocopies of the passport
proof of property
other finacial papers ( fixed deposit, bonds, lic)
family photographs
cover letter highlighting the nature of visit.

4.and for me will latest bank stmt do instead of taking letter from the bank stating the date of a/c, balance of a/c ?
5. is original birth certificate needed or will my copy of passport works?

i would really appreciate if somebody could guide me on this.

Dear Murali and other members, thank u for the prompt reply..the only thing i needed to know right now is that my inlaws are self sponsering for the trip..what documents my husband has to send in that case..as what i seeat this forum and in experienceses shared is the documents they hv mentioned abt ,when son/daughter is sponser..i suppose he still has to send sm documents to his parents ( even when he is not sponsring)...really needed ur help as my baby is due in next two mnths and they want to be here.

Thanks once again

Your husband should send them an invitation letter. I don't think he needs to send any other papers if he is not sponsoring their trip.
Make sure your in-laws carry enough documents to prove their ability to pay for the trip and to show enough ties to return to their home country.
Good luck for the birth of your baby!
